Hulme History Month was developed around the Hulme Mural,
the iconic landmark montage on the Hulme Library building, being 10 years old on
September 30th 2012. The
84 foot long ceramic mural,
was created between 2000 and 2002 by the "Hulme Urban Potters" a
group composed of students and tutors from the Hulme Adult Education
Centre. It chronicles the history of the community from Roman Times to
the present day.
The organisers of the ‘Say It Loud’ history project were
keen to run a small programme for and about Hulme. Programme is supported by
the Hulme Urban Potters, then creators of the mural, Hulme Library and the
Hulme History Society.
