Hulme History Month 2012 Survey

This year, 2012, we ran the first Hulme History Month programme based at Hulme Library.

The programme included the 'Launch Event' including exhibition, 'The Changing Face of Hulme', 'The Walking Tour of Hulme' and 'The Future of Hulme'.

It was done with help from Hulme Library, theHulme History Society, the Hulme Urban Potters, Hulme Community Gardens, The Mbari Group, Sustained Theatre, Café Historique, and supported by Manchester City Council.

Now that the main programme October events are over, we would like some feedback so we can see
1) if people would like the programme to run again next year
2) how we could improve it

If you could take 5 minutes to fill in our feedback form, that would be great.

Thank you.

Happening in Hulme: A Girls Guide -Hulme, Northenden, Gorton

Do you know any young women aged 13 – 20 who could benefit from improved confidence on a free, fun and female only project?

'A Girl's Guide to Sex & Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll' (Hulme: Tuesday 6th November - Tuesday 18th December at 6.30-9pm, Gorton South project coming soon!) focuses on personal development issues of the young women's choice. Similarly, women will have the opportunity to attend free trips and gain an ASDAN award in PSHE.

'A Girl's Guide to Changing the World' (Northenden: Thursday 8th November - Thursday 20th December at 4.30-7pm & Gorton South: Wednesday 21st November - Wednesday 23rd January at 4-6pm) focuses on challenging gendered issues by understanding global injustices, gaining campaigning skills and acting locally to create positive change. All women will gain an ASDAN award in leadership and a place on a trip of their choice.

If you or the young women you support have any questions or would like to contribute to the projects, Youth Discovery Ventures are open to ideas! Alternatively, if you are able to display posters or distribute flyers (digital copies attached) please get in touch.

The Future of Hulme - Saturday October 20th 2012.

Hulme’s last regeneration was during 1990’s. But what has happened since then? Has regeneration worked in the way it was designed too? Does it have the facilities it needs? Is Hulme ‘better’?

Have local people been able to ‘grow’ their community? If not, why?
What about the wider view? Is there another vision for Manchester? What's happening next?

Talks, discussion and contributions on how Hulme has changed over the years since regeneration and the coming changes.

If you have something to say, come along, Hulme Library, 2pm.

Refreshments will be provided.

Below is some thinking about Hulme:
